Malaysia’s premier dance school with studios located in Subang Jaya (Taipan Triangle and SS14), Subang Perdana and Kota Damansara (Dataran Sunway).
The Aurora School of Dance is founded by Principal Suraya Ahmad Kamil in 1989.
Since then, thousands of dancers have experienced the wonder, exhilaration, discipline, and joy of expressing themselves through the art of dance. The “time tested“ focused teaching and coaching philosophy have produced national and world-class dance champions.
We, at the Aurora School of Dance, foster excellence in our students by providing a rigorous, diverse and nurturing environment. Students receive professional classical ballet training, which is the foundation of all dance and performance opportunities.
Dance study produces individuals with strong self-esteem, confidence, poise, teamwork and elevated social skills.
Students as young as 3 years-old, begin their dance life at Aurora, and many continue through high school and college or university.
Our curriculum includes classes in Classical Ballet, Modern Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, and Competitive Ballroom Dancing at all age groups. We also conduct recreational dance programs for adults.
Many of Aurora’s students have transitioned as dance professionals, as well as graduates in medicine, engineering and business professionals. Our alumni maintain an active role and guest-teach or assist in our productions.
Most recently, Aurora’s scholar May Jean Teo, 3 times champion at the Dance Society of Malaysia’s Solo Ballet Competition was accepted by the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
Our alumni and teacher Suhaili Micheline and her student Naim Sherazad won gold medals at the WCOPA Grand World Championship in Hollywood CA as well as the “Grand Champions of the World” title (July 2010).
The School stages many performances with Government, Corporate, and Charity organisations including frequent appearances on local and national television. Jin Li Leong, senior teacher continues to be instrumental in directing the various productions.
Other notable and prestigious events, ranged from the 9th International Ballet Competition and Contest for Choreographers in Moscow, The Australian Institute of Classical Dance International Ballet Awards, The Adeline Genee Ballet Competition to The Crown International Dance Festival, where we received numerous individual and team awards for jazz and hip-hop.
Among the Honours, are “Most Promising Artist”, “Best Choreography in a Mixed Bill”, “Best Featured Artist” – Boh Cameronian Performing Arts Awards 2009, and Best Choreography”, ”Best Male Dancer” and “Best Overall Production” – Short and Sweet Dance 2009.
Our classical Ballet students have won scholarships to attend The Royal Academy of Dance Summer School in Singapore, as well as the renowned Cecchetti International Summer School programmes in Australia.
